Riga Art Week to take place at end-May
RIGA, March 24 (LETA) - The inaugural Riga Art Week will take place in Riga at the end of May, Riga City Council's External Communications Department informed LETA.
The festival will run from May 26 to June 1.
The aim of Riga Art Week is to promote cooperation between art institutions, galleries and industry representatives, emphasizing Riga's potential on the map of European cultural events.
According to the municipality, the program of Riga Art Week will appeal to both art professionals and art aficionados, promoting contemporary art, fostering the development of cultural life and public engagement, strengthening Riga's image as a creative city.
On the other hand, Riga Music Week will run from November 2 to 6. The festival's program will feature concerts and shows by young musicians, a music industry conference, panel discussions and workshops, masterclasses, and Rigalive songwriting camp.
Riga Music Week aims to foster competition in the music industry, strengthening the Baltic music ecosystem.
Riga City Council believes that these contemporary art festivals have the potential to attract not only local visitors but also foreign tourists
Riga City Council will allot EUR 75,000 for the organization of Riga Art Week and as munch for Riga Music Week.
