Mayor Ravins' Greens/Farmers win local elections in Jelgava
RIGA, June 6 (LETA) - The Union of Greens and Farmers won local elections in the central Latvian city of Jelgava on Saturday with current mayor Andris Ravins running as the party's lead candidate, the Central Election Commission reported.
Greens/Farmers won 32.27 percent of votes in Jelgava.
Meanwhile, New Unity received 13.55 percent, the National Alliance 12.45 percent, Movement For 10.38 percent, Latvia's Russian Union 8.14 percent, the Latvian Association of Regions 7.59 percent and Harmony 6.98 percent of the vote.
Voter turnout in Jelgava was 29.59 percent.
As reported, 327,938 voters or 34.01 percent of eligible voters cast their votes in this year's local government elections, according to the Central Election Commission's data.
This is the lowest voter turnout since the restoration of independence.
