RIGA, April 26 (LETA) - On Wednesday, April 27, President Egils Levits and First Lady Andra Levite will travel to Ludza Region where, together with representatives of local governments, business, education, national defense, culture and the public sector, they will discuss current issues in the region.

On Wednesday evening, Levits will participate in the opening of and address Latgale Congress in Rezekne, as the President's Chancery informed LETA.

Since 2021, Ludza Region is made up of Cibla, Karsava, Ludza and Zilupe counties. During the visit to Ludza Region, the president and residents of the region will discuss issues related to the development of the region - education, business, security, culture, work of the municipality, and others.

Levits will also meet with 9th grade students from Ludza City High School, Ludza High School No. 2, Karsava High School, Zilupe High School and Cibla High School to answer their questions about the Constitution.

In turn, Levite will meet with craftsmen, teachers and other members of society of Ludza Region, as well as visit Ludza History Museum.

After the visit to Ludza Region, the president and the first lady will travel to Rezekne, where they will lay flowers at the grave of Francis Trasuns, participate in an event commemorating 115 soldiers of the Latvian Army who fell in Latgale freedom battles, and participate in Latgale Congress.
