    airBaltic in May plans to resume flights to Liepaja

    RIGA, March 23 (LETA) - Latvian national ariline airBaltic in early May plans to resume flights from Riga to Liepaja, LETA learned from the company.

    The changing travel restrictions have significantly reduced demand for flights, and this winter season airBaltic was not flying to Liepaja.

    "Plans to resume flights to Liepaja depend on the epidemiological situation in the country," said the company's representatives.

    At the same time, Riga-Liepaja route is an important part of the company's route network, and a fast and convenient ways for travelers to get to Liepaja.

    As reported, airBaltic flew 1.34 million passengers in 2020, down 73 percent from 2019.

    The Latvian state currently owns 96.14 percent in airBaltic, and a 3.86 percent stake in the airline belongs to Aircraft Leasing 1, a company owned by Danish businessman Lars Thuesen.
