    LMT installs its 100th 5G base station

    RIGA, Dec 8 (LETA) - Latvijas Mobilais Telefons (LMT) mobile operator installed its 100th 5G base station in the western Latvian town of Saldus at the beginning of December, LETA was told at the company. 

    LMT president Juris Binde said that the deployment of the 5G network in all regions of Latvia is an essential step to not only provide high-quality services amid growing mobile data consumption, but also to promote business and economic growth in Latvia's regions. 

    According to the mobile operator's data, the 5G network is being used most actively in  the municipalities of Sigulda, Adazi, Medemciems, Darzini, Ventspils, Jaunikskile and Jelgava. 

    LMT was established in January 1992 and its share capital is EUR 817,000. Sonera Holding and Telia Company each own 24.5 percent of LMT shares, 23 percent of the shares belong to TET and Latvian State Radio and Television Center each, while Latvian Public Assets Manager Possessor owns 5 percent of LMT shares.
