RIGA, March 10 (LETA) - At the end of February, the registered unemployment rate in Latvia was 5.7 percent of the economically active population, which is up 0.2 percentage points from the end of January 2024, according to information published by the State Employment Agency (NVA).

At the end of February 2025, a total of 49,889 unemployed people were registered with the NVA, which is 1,062 more than a month earlier, when 48,827 unemployed people were registered with the agency.

The lowest registered unemployment rate at the end of February was still in the Riga region - 4.1 percent of the economically active population, which is 0.1 percentage points more than at the end of 2024, while the highest registered unemployment rate was in the Latgale region - 11 percent, 0.3 percentage points more.

The fastest rise in registered unemployment in was in Vidzeme and Kurzeme - by 0.1 percentage points, accounting for 5.8 percent and 6.1 percent respectively of the economically active population at the end of the month.

In Zemgale, the registered unemployment did not change and was 5.7 percent at the end of February.

At the end of last year, the registered unemployment rate in Latvia was 5.3 percent of the economically active population.
