    RIGA, June 5 (LETA) - 327,938 voters or 34.01 percent of eligible voters cast their votes in this year's local government elections, according to the Central Election Commission's data.

    This is the lowest voter turnout since the restoration of independence.

    This also includes those who have voted in early voting.

    The highest activity in the elections was in Vidzeme, where 36.61 percent of eligible voters have voted.

    At the same time, in Latgale, 34.05 percent eligible voters voted in the elections, while in Kurzeme - 31.55 percent, but in Zemgale 31.22 percent.

    The highest voter turnout was registered in Preili Region, where 45.42 percent of eligible voters went out to vote, but the lowest - in Augsdaugava Region, where just 28.63 percent of voters went out to vote.

    In all, 964,339 Latvian residents were eligible to vote in the local government elections.
