RIGA, Oct 6 (LETA) - The fall phase of military exercise Namejs 2022 will take place in Riga neighborhoods today and in the coming days, during which the Armed Forces will conduct practical exercises in the city, as Riga City Council informed LETA.

Soldiers from the Home Guard and National Armed Forces soldiers will take part in the exercise together with U.S., Danish and Lithuanian soldiers, which will also take place in Bauska, Kekava, Marupe, Ropazi and Salaspils regions to improve their urban and rural warfare skills.

During the military exercise, soldiers, Home Guard members and military transport will move through Riga neighborhoods of Jugla, Ciekurkalns, Mezciems, Trisciems, Jaunciems, Vecmilgravis, Sarkandaugava, Petersala-Andrejsala, Skanste and city center on October 7 from 7 a.m. to 10 p.m., in Vecmilgravis, Mezciems, Teika, Ciekurkalns, Grizinkalns, Brasa and Sarkandaugava on October 8 from 8 a.m. to 10 p.m., and in Sarkandaugava and Petersala-Andrejsala on October 9 from 7 a.m. to 12 p.m.

On October 8, temporary traffic restrictions are planned on Daugavpils Highway in Salaspils and on Vecumnieki-Subate road in Bauska Region.

In order to strengthen and improve cooperation between civilian and military institutions, state and municipal institutions, representatives from private companies and organizations will also participate in the military exercise to prove different types of support, strengthening Latvia's comprehensive national defense system.

The National Armed Forces call on residents to be understanding and explains that the military exercise is aimed at improving comprehensive national defense capabilities and strengthening regional security.

As reported, military training cycle Namejs has been planned in advance and has been taking place in Latvia since 2014.
