RIGA, Aug 24 (LETA) - Out of the 169 new Covid-19 cases confirmed in Latvia over the past 24 hours, 44 percent were recorded in Riga and the municipalities of Ogre and Saldus reported quite a few cases as well, according to the data released by the Center for Disease Prevention and Control (CDC).

The 74 new cases discovered in Riga brought the cumulative 14-day number of Covid-19 cases in the Latvian capital to 698. 

Saldus municipality reported 11 new Covid-19 cases and Ogre municipality reported nine cases. Jekabpils and Smiltene municipalities reported deven new cases each, Ropazi municipality recorder six cases and a number of other municipalities reported fewer cases.

Latvia's cumulative 14-day number of Covid-19 cases per 100,000 population rose to 89.8.
