RIGA, Sept 16 (LETA) - Out of the 596 new Covid-19 cases confirmed in Latvia over the past 24 hours, one fourth was recorded in Riga, according to the data released by the Center for Disease Prevention and Control (CDC).

The 151 new cases discovered in Riga brought the cumulative 14-day number of Covid-19 cases in the Latvian capital to 1,689.

Valmiera municipality reported 50 new Covid-19 cases, Daugavpils reported 30 cases, Jekabpils municipality - 28 cases, Rezekne - 22, Balvi and Ropazi municipalities - 19 case each and a number of other municipalities reported fewer cases.

Latvia's cumulative 14-day number of Covid-19 cases per 100,000 population rose to 297.6.
