Unemployment in Latvia remains at 5.1% at end-November
RIGA, Dec 10 (LETA) - At the end of November, the registered unemployment rate in Latvia was 5.1 percent of the economically active population, which is the same as at the end of October, according to information published by the State Employment Agency (NVA).
At the end of November 2024, a total of 45,182 unemployed people were registered with the NVA, which is 293 more than a month earlier, when 44,889 unemployed people were registered with the agency.
The lowest registered unemployment rate at the end of November was still in the Riga region - 3.9 percent of the economically active population, which is 0.1 percentage points less than at the end of October, while the highest registered unemployment rate was in the Latgale region - 10.2 percent, 0.1 percentage points less.
The fastest rise in registered unemployment in was in Vidzeme and Zemgale - by 0.2 percentage points in each, accounting for 5.2 percent and 5 percent respectively of the economically active population at the end of the month.
In Kurzeme, the registered unemployment rose by 0.1 percentage points and was 5 percent at the end of November.
At the end of last year, the registered unemployment rate in Latvia was 5.7 percent of the economically active population.
