Jurmala municipality will pay special benefits to senior citizens and pupils during state of emergency
RIGA, Feb 18 (LETA) - Jurmala city council will provide support to its residents during Covid-19 crisis - senior citizens and pupils, the council's spokeswoman Zane Leite told LETA.
Pupils will receive EUR 100 in benefit, while pensioners will be paid additional EUR 50 to the current EUR 100 benefit.
Jurmala city council will make the decision on benefits in a meeting on February 25.
The benefit for support to the study process will be paid to families with schoolchildren who are registered in Jurmala as the place of residents, also to those families whose children go to schools in other municipalities. The benefit will be EUR 100 for each pupil.
During the pandemic, the local council plans to pay additional EUR 50 in benefits to pensioners for medical expenses. Jurmala is already paying EUR 100 a year to its pensioners for health care expenses.
