Chairs of five municipal councils might be replaced after Saeima elections
RIGA, Oct 2 (LETA) - In five municipalities of Latvia, council chairs might have to be replaced following the 14th Saeima elections as they have been elected to parliament, the Central Election Commission's data shows.
According to the preliminary results of the parliamentary elections, Raimonds Cudars, chairman of the Salaspils council, and Inga Berzina, chairwoman of the Kuldiga council, have probably been elected to the Saeima on the New Unity ticket.
Sigulda mayor Ugis Mitrevics of the National Alliance has likely won a seat in the Saeima as well.
Meanwhile, Adazi Council chairman Maris Sprindzuks, Riga vice mayor Edvins Smiltens and Liepaja vice mayor Atis Deksnis have likely been elected to the Saeima on the United List ticket.
If Development/For manages to surpass the 5 percent vote threshold necessary to win representation in parliament, Livani mayor Andris Vaivods will also become a Saeima member.
