Riga City Council passes amendments to 2024 Riga budget, raising budget revenue by EUR 65.4 million
RIGA, Nov 20 (LETA) - Riga City Council today supported amendments to the 2024 Riga budget, which stipulate increasing budget revenue this year by EUR 65.4 million.
As a result of the budget amendments, revenue in the Riga budget would grow from around EUR 1.355 billion to EUR 1.420 billion.
Meanwhile, budget expenditure would increase by EUR 38.3 million, from EUR 1.546 billion to EUR 1.584 billion.
Consequently, the Latvian capital city's budget expenditure will exceed revenue by an estimated EUR 164 million.
Riga City Council's External Communications Department told LETA that a significant increase was planned for the social sector. EUR 5.2 million will be allocated to improve access to home care services and social care centers.
The amendments also stipulate increasing teachers' salaries, a substantial increase in Riga City Council's investments, and other measures.
