Over EUR 200,000 donated for removal of monument to Soviet Army

RIGA, May 13 (LETA) - As at Friday morning, more than 13,700 people had donated over EUR 200,000 for the planned dismantling of a monument to the Soviet Army in Victory Park in Riga.
A fundraising drive for the removal of the "occupation monument" on Ziedot.lv website was launched on Wednesday evening.
As reported, Ziedot.lv came under repeated DDoS cyber attacks on Thursday and Friday morning, but the fundraising website is up and running again, accepting donations.
Donations for the removal of the "occupation monument" can be made at ziedot.lv/tautasgriba.
As reported, the Saeima on Thursday passed in the final reading legislative amendments removing legal obstacles to dismantling the memorial to the Soviet Army in Victory Park. Riga City Council plans to decide on the monument's removal soon.
