EUR 21.5 million to be invested in transport infrastructure upgrades in Riga this year
RIGA, Feb 17 (LETA) - Riga City Council's traffic priorities this year will be construction and reconstruction of streets, as well as design of new facilities, for which almost EUR 21.5 million will be allocated, the municipality informed LETA after a meeting of Riga City Council's Traffic and Transport Committee on Monday.
The amount includes EUR 9.2 million that was not utilized in 2024.
Of this amount, EUR 9.6 million will allocated for construction and reconstruction of transport facilities, EUR 3.9 million for construction and reconstruction of traffic management equipment, and EUR 7.9 million for design and construction projects.
The projects to be implemented this year include construction of a new section of Jurmalas Gatve street, construction of bus stops on Aleksandra Caka Street, reconstruction of Grostonas Street section from Sporta Street to Jana Dikmana Street, construction of bus stops, bike lanes on Dzirnavu Street section from Terbatas Street to Skolas Street, renovation of the bridge over Marupite River on Karla Ulmana Gatve street, construction of traffic lights and reconstruction of the bridge over Riga Canal on Krisjana Barona Street, and other projects.
These projects and financing for their implementation will also be discussed by Riga City Council's Finance and Administration Committee.
