Vaccination centers in Daugavpils plan to administer 2,000 Covid-19 vaccine doses in short-term
RIGA, May 11 (LETA) - Vaccination centers in Latvia's southeastern city of Daugavpils are planning to administer 2,000 doses of the Covid-19 vaccine in the short-term, the city's vice-mayor Livija Jankovska (Our Party) said at a news conference Tuesday.
Jankovska noted that Latvia's Covid-19 incidence is growing but that the cumulative two-week Covid-19 incidence in Daugavpils is lower than Latvia's average incidence. "But it does not mean that we can relax," Jankovska added.
So far, Covid-19 vaccines have been administered to 7,825 residents of Daugavpils, inoculating an average of 200 people a day. The vice-mayor said that the immunization process is ongoing but that it could be faster.
The working hours of the city's vaccination centers depend on demand, Jankovska said, adding that the short-term plan is to administer 2,000 vaccine doses in Daugavpils.
As reported, 17.09 percent of Latvian residents have received the first dose of the Covid-19 vaccine, while 4.41 percent have completed their vaccination, according to the National Health Service data.
By May 10, the first dose of Covid-19 vaccine has been administered to 322,894 people, and the vaccination process has been completed by 83,381 people. The vaccination process is considered completed after receiving two doses of AstraZeneca, Pfizer/BioNTech or Moderna vaccine and one dose of Johnson & Johnson vaccine.
