Riga, Dec 4 (LETA) - The maximum amount of funds to be spent on pre-election campaigning by one party or an alliance of parties in Latvia's territory in next year's municipal elections will be EUR 869,640, the Corruption Prevention and Combating Bureau (KNAB) informed LETA.
The office has calculated the amount of pre-election campaign spending in each Latvian municipality that political organizations will be allowed to spend before the municipal elections scheduled for June 7, 2025. The limited expenditure covers political advertising, charity, sponsorship, benefits and donations.
The KNAB explains that pre-election campaign expenditure includes both the total expenditure of the political organization and the individual expenditure of the candidates.
According to KNAB, a party will be allowed to spend EUR 259,864 in Riga, EUR 35,131 in Daugavpils, EUR 28,591 in Liepaja, EUR 27,747 in Ogre municipality, EUR 25,529 in Valmiera municipality, EUR 24,151 in Jelgava, EUR 22,592 in Jurmala, EUR 14,423 in Ventspils, EUR 13,693 in Rezekne.
Persons not affiliated with political parties and their associations will be allowed to use funds not exceeding EUR 11,100 for pre-election campaigning for or against political forces and candidates.
KNAB reminds that the 120-day pre-election campaign period before the municipal elections will start on February 8, 2025 and will last until election day - June 7.
