Harmony in local elections might run in municipalities where it had not been represented so far
RIGA, Jan 25 (LETA) - During the upcoming local elections, Harmony party might run in municipalities where it had not been represented so far, the party's leader Janis Urbanovics reported.
He said that the party plans to expand its representation across municipalities. "The plan is still in progress," he said.
The leaders in the large cities where the mayors are or recently have been Harmony's politicians will remain unchanged. "We do not predict and discuss any changes in Rezekne and Daugavpils," he said, adding that the lists of representatives for Ventspils and Liepaja also are quite clear.
Due to the administrative territorial reform, not only municipalities should merge, but also local units of the party, thus reaching an agreement on the leaders.
As reported, local elections will take place on June 5 in 41 municipalities: six cities and 35 regions.
Riga City Council elections will not be held this year as extraordinary elections to the city council were held in 2020 and the current councilors will serve until the 2025 elections.
