State of emergency in Riga East University Hospital lifted
RIGA, Sept 13 (LETA) - As the situation in the Riga East University Hospital (RAKUS) has improved, the hospital has lifted the state of emergency, LETA learned from RAKUS spokesman Martins Vilcans.
According to RAKUS data, on September 8, 75 percent of the hospital's beds were occupied compared to 72.9 percent today. Also, 59 percent of Covid-19 beds were occupied, compared to 69 percent today. In intensive care unit, 108 percent of Covid-19 beds were occupied on September 8 compated to 67 percent today.
Assessing the criteria for the state of emergency, RAKUS today decided to lift the state of emergency in the hospital.
At the beginning of last week the situation was critical in relation to intensive care beds and availability of staff, and as a result a number of serious surgeries had to be postponed.
In cooperation with the Health Ministry, the Emergency Medical Service, regional and local hospitals, the situation in RAKUS has been normalized.
