Vaccination appointments at Jekabpils hospital scheduled until end of March

RIGA, Mar 2 (LETA) - Vaccination appointments at the regional hospital in the eastern Latvian town of Jekabpils have been scheduled until the end of March, the hospital's board member Renars Putnins told journalists Tuesday.
He said that around 300 people have already received the shot against Covid-19 at the Jekabpils hospital. They include the hospital's employees, family physicians and seniors.
"At present, we are faced with a shortage of vaccine doses. We are scheduling appointments, they are scheduled practically until the end of March," Putnins said, adding that the hospital has made two vaccine requests.
As reported, 1,338 people receive the first dose of Covid-19 vaccine in the past 24 hours, while the second dose was administered to 226 persons, according to the National Health Service data.
The vaccination against Covid-19 in on an upwards trend compared to the weekend, but is still lower than the most active days of the previous. In comparison, the largest number of people vaccinated in a day last week was 4,000 people.
So far, the first dose of vaccine has been administered to 46,758 people in Latvia, while 17,243 people have received both doses of the vaccine. In Latvia there were 1.894 million residents on January 1, 2021, according to the Central statistical bureau, so 2.47 percent of residents have received the first vaccine dose, and 0.9 percent have received both doses.
