Riga, Jan 17 (LETA) - The political parties the Union of Greens and Farmers (ZZS), For Latvia's Development (LA), the Latvian Green Party (LZP) and Vidzeme Party on Friday signed a memorandum on joint participation in the municipal elections of the Cesis municipality, LETA was informed by the parties.

The leader of the ticket will be Janis Goba, the chief of the West Vidzeme Precinct of the State Police.

"I am a responsible person and it is important for me to work in a team where every candidate is willing to work for the benefit of the people and for the benefit of the entire Cesis municipality. We need to build a county where every voice is heard," said Goba.

The main asset of the new list is experienced candidates, well-known to the citizens, from the new Cesis municipality, according to the parties.

The partners believe that the signed Memorandum confirms their ability to agree on priorities, their readiness to join forces and work to promote a balanced and sustainable development of the Cesis municipality, to improve the quality of life of every citizen, to build a municipal administration based on the fundamental values of democracy, the rule of law, justice, responsibility and respect.

With the Memorandum, the political association sets the following priorities for the activities of the local council: economic and rural development, lifelong education, accessible social services and social security, general safety and public order, and an orderly and purposefully managed infrastructure.

The current Cesis municipal council consists of 11 lawmakers from the New Unity, three law,makers from LZS, two from each LA and Vidzeme Party, one from the National Alliance and one from Movement For/Progressives.
