EUR 26 million available to municipalities from EU funds for business infrastructure development
Riga, Sept 30 (LETA) - The Central Financial and Contracting Agency (CFLA) has repeatedly announced an open call for projects, inviting municipalities to apply for European Union (EU) funding for the development of public infrastructure for entrepreneurship in urban functional areas, where the remaining European Regional Development Fund (ERDF) funding for this round of selection is EUR 26.2 million, representatives of the CFLA informed LETA.
The EU funds program, developed by the Smart Administration and Regional Development Ministry, is designed to develop public infrastructure for business and increase private investment in urban functional areas by investing in business development in line with municipal development programs.
The open call for projects is open to municipalities or institutions established by municipalities, special economic zone administrations, municipal capital companies performing administrative tasks delegated by the municipality, as well as public-private capital companies in which at least one municipality holds shares or has voting rights and which performs administrative tasks delegated by the municipality.
The ERDF funding available for the second call for proposals in the second selection round is EUR 5,025,731 for the Riga planning region, EUR 2,542,945 for the Kurzeme planning region, EUR 5,164,825 for the Zemgale planning region, EUR 97,230 for the Vidzeme planning region and EUR 13,413,973 for the Latgale planning region.
The CFLA will accept project applications until February 28, 2025.
As reported, in the first call for proposals, where the CFLA accepted applications until June this year, 20 municipalities received project applications for ERDF investments amounting to EUR 36.6 million.
