RIGA, Jan 7 (LETA) - The number of Covid-19 patients treated at Vidzeme hospital in the past 24 hours has reached 40, including three with severe symptoms, LETA learned from Vidzeme Hospital's spokeswoman Benita Brila.

On Wednesday, five Covid-19 patients were hospitalized and 11 patients were discharged.

Brila said that one employee got infected with the virus, and one employee has recovered and returned back to work.

As reported, Vidzeme hospital may receive up to 70 Covid-19 patients to the hospital.

As reported, 178 Covid-19 patients were hospitalized on Wednesday, which is the highest number of Covid-19 patients hospitalized in one day, according to the National Health Service's data.

In total, there are currently 1,174 Covid-19 patients being treated in hospitals, including 1,109 with symptoms of medium severity and 65 with severe symptoms.

124 Covid-19 patients were discharged from hospitals yesterday. In all, 3,926 Covid-19 patients have been discharged from hospitals so far.
