More than 11,000 people in Latvia vaccinated against Covid-19 so far

RIGA, Jan 14 (LETA) - 1,482 people were vaccinated against Covid-19 on Wednesday in Latvia, according to the National Health Service's data.

Latvia has received 30,255 Comirnaty vaccines from Pfizer and BioNTech, meant for a total of 15,127 people as the vaccination requires two doses. This means that less than three-fourths of those who were supposed to be immunized with these vaccines have been immunized so far, according to LETA estimates.

According to the latest data, 1,356 people were immunized against the coronavirus on Monday and 1,616 on Tuesday. The National Health Service explains that the daily reports are regularly updated as data on vaccination may be entered in the E-Health system in one to five days after vaccination.

The total number of people vaccinated in Latvia so far has increased to 11,417, including 8,731 medics and 2,686 employees of medical institutions.

On Wednesday, coronavirus vaccines were administered to medics at 29 hospitals: 252 people were given the shot at Riga Eastern Clinical University Hospital, 234 at Children's Clinical University Hospital, including 126 vaccinated with Moderna vaccines that Latvia received Tuesday afternoon, and 196 people were vaccinated at Pauls Stradins Clinical University Hospital.

More than fifty people were administered the vaccines on Wednesday at Liepaja Regional Hospital, Northern Kurzeme Regional Hospital, and National Rehabilitation Center Vaivari each.

In the meantime, a number of hospitals and healthcare institutions, including Limbazi Hospital, Daugavpils Psycho-neurological Hospital, Rezekne Hospital, Madona Hospital, Tukums Hospital, Balvi and Gulbene Hospital Association, Aizkraukle Hospital, and Bauska Hospital each vaccinated less than twenty people.

As reported, Minister of Health Daniels Pavluts (For Development) has issued an order stipulating that all medics have to be vaccinated from January 11.
