Vindr plans to invest up to EUR 600 million in wind farms in Latvia

Riga, March 27 (LETA) - Renewable energy company Vindr plans to invest up to EUR 600 million in wind farms in Latvia, representatives of Vindr Latvia informed LETA.
Vindr Latvia has signed development right agreements with Latvijas Valsts Mezi (LVM) state forest manager for five new wind park territories in Cesis, Jekabpils, Livani, Saldus and Valmiera municipalities. Vindr is currently working on two wind farms in the Augsdaugava and Saldus municipalities.
The total energy production capacity of all Vindr wind parks in Latvia will exceed 600 megawatts (MW), and the investment in all projects could reach a total of EUR 600 million.
Environmental impact and technical studies will be carried out before construction work begins, and a coordination process with national and local authorities will be implemented. Vindr will also engage in dialogue with the local communities where the wind farms are planned to be built.
Vindr is a renewable energy project developer with 72 solar and wind projects in four countries - Latvia, Estonia, Norway and Sweden. In Latvia, Vindr is developing wind and solar parks with a total capacity of 1.2 GW.
According to Firmas.lv, Vindr Latvia did not generate operating income in 2023 and incurred losses of EUR 83,847.
Vindr Latvia was registered in 2023 with a share capital of EUR 3,640. The sole owner of the company is Vindr, a company registered in Norway.
