Water supply bills to grow more than 17% in Riga

RIGA, Aug 29 (LETA) - Water supply bills in Riga will grow by more than 17 percent starting from October, while sewage service tariff by almost 33 percent, LETA learned from the Public Utilities Commission.

According to the information published on the internet website of Rigas Udens municipal water supply utility, residents have to pay EUR 1.02 per cubic meters for water supply and EUR 0.91 per cubic meter for sewage services.

Starting from October 1, the water supply tariff will be EUR 1.20 per cubic meter and sewage service tariff - EUR 1.21 per cubic meter.

Rigas Udens explains that increase of tariffs is necessary because electricity, natural gas and heating energy prices have risen considerably.

Rigas Udens last year posted EUR 55.832 million in turnover and EUR 5.516 million in profit.

Rigas Udens is the largest water supply company in Latvia, and operates the water supply and wastewater infrastructure in Riga and a few surrounding towns. In 2021, there were 650,000 people in its service area, with 98 percent being connected to the water supply and wastewater collection systems.
