    Provision of emergency medical services restricted in four hospitals

    RIGA, March 2 (LETA) - Provision of emergency medical services in certain profiles has been limited or restricted in four hospitals - Kuldiga, Kraslava, Tukums and Cesis, according to the Emergency Medical Service Center's (NMPD) report to the government.

    Kuldiga hospital cannot provide endoscopy service since February 9, Kraslava hospital cannot admit internal profile patients since February 12, Tukums hospital does not have vacant beds in the department of chronic patients and traumatology department, while Cesis hospital may not admit neurology patients from March 1 until March 7.

    NMPD representative Dita Heiberga said at the government meeting that the number of hospitalizations a day has risen, while the number of occupied beds has been over 60 percent.

    The highest bed occupancy has been reported in Balvi (92 percent), Ludza (90 percent), Jelgava (86 percent) and Jurmala (80 percent).

    Heiberga said that even though the number of Covid-19 patients in hospitals has declined, the overall number of occupied beds is rising,
