Riga, April 9 (LETA) - This year, the state road manager Latvijas Valsts Celi (LVC) will implement 11 traffic organization projects for more than EUR 13 million, of which EUR 7.5 million will be co-financed by the European Union (EU), LETA was informed by LVC.
To improve traffic safety, this year it is planned to build infrastructure for pedestrians and cyclists at seven locations on the national road network, five of which will be built with EU co-financing - between Valmiera and Murmuiza, between Janmuiza and Cesis, between Daugavpils and Lociki, between Tukums and Milzkalni, and between Burini and Viesturciems.
This year, two intersections will also be rebuilt - the intersection of the Vidzeme motorway (A2) and the Smiltene-Gulbene regional motorway (P27) will be subject to traffic improvement measures, including the construction of lighting and the reconstruction of the exit ramp from Riga to Gulbene.
At the intersection of the regional roads Inciems-Sigulda-Kegums (P8) and Riga-Ergli (P4) in Suntazi, pedestrian and cycling infrastructure, public transport stops and a bridge over the River Abze will be renovated.
