Ignitis Renewables invests EUR 270,000 in community development projects in Latvian regions
Riga, Jan 30 (LETA) - Renewable energy company Ignitis Renewables has invested EUR 270,000 in community development projects in Latvian regions, LETA was informed.
The company is implementing a support program for local communities in the vicinity of Ignitis Renewables' future solar and wind parks. Since 2024, the support program is also being implemented in Latvia.
Ignitis Renewables is supporting eight projects in Latvia in the Bauska, Kuldiga and Saldus regions.
The company's support program provides funding for important community projects in a variety of areas that promote economic and social well-being, strengthen sports and cultural diversity, and support environmental, ecological and sustainability solutions in the region.
In Bauska, Ignitis Renewables will provide funding for three projects supporting well-being and active lifestyles. These include a Physical Activity Fund to promote and encourage environmentally friendly physical activity, while providing education, health promotion and socialization.
Organization Jaunatne Smaidam has been granted funding to promote meaningful and meaningful activities for the young generation of the region, while the foundation Lumanu Gimenes Fonds has been granted funding to create a multi-purpose sports field in Vecumnieki.
Three projects will be supported in the Saldus region. Among them, the Jaunlutrini Development Association has been awarded funding to develop and promote quality living space in rural areas with a focus on stimulating the well-being of families and children, creating a new playground for children and raising the possibility of attracting new residents to the municipality.
Organizations Latvian Mazpulki has been granted funding to develop the smart village concept by creating the necessary infrastructure and lighting for events in Jaunlutrini parish.
Organization Jaunmuiznieks has been granted funding to implement the project VeloSaule, which aims to promote cycling as a sustainable mode of transport by developing cycling routes and setting up a bicylce maintenance station in Jaunlutrini municipality.
Two projects related to infrastructure and environmental improvement have been supported in Kuldiga municipality.
Organization Kur Zeme Dara has been granted funding for the project Smart Solar Arc 2030, which involves the installation of 100 percent solar-powered smart lanterns and video surveillance in the municipality of Varme. For its part, Varme Municipality Development Association has been awarded funding for the development of the Varme Light Palace, which involves the implementation of safe and sustainable environmental solutions in the improvement of infrastructure projects, the renovation of pedestrian walkways and the installation of environmentally friendly lighting to illuminate the sports field.
As reported, Ignitis Group's turnover in the first nine months of 2024 was EUR 1.621 billion, which is 12 percent less than in the same period of 2023.
The group operates in Lithuania, Latvia, Estonia, Poland and Finland. Ignitis Grupe shares are listed on Nasdaq Vilnius. The Lithuanian State owns 75 percent of the company's capital.
