    Schools and kindergartens are ready to admit Ukrainian children - minister

    RIGA, Feb 28 (LETA) - Municipal preschools and general education institutions are ready to admit Ukrainian children, said Education and Science Minister Anita Muizniece (New Conservative Party) in an interview with commercial TV3 television today.

    She said that also higher education institutions are ready for refugees.

    The minister said though that there us much uncertainty and it is not clear how many people from Ukraine will arrive in Latvia.

    The politician said that today, a meeting of the Baltic and Ukrainian education ministers is planned to discuss "turning against Russia about the situation" and practical assistance the Baltic states could provide in education and science to Ukraine.

    As reported, many municipalities already announced that they are ready to accommodate Ukrainian refugees and provide the necessary assistance to them.

    Last week, Russian President Vladimir Putin launched a military operation in Ukraine. Many Ukrainian residents are forced to leave their homes and travel to other European countries.
