Experimental bus routes between the Estonian border and Latvia to open on Tuesday

Riga, June 29 (LETA) - Experimental bus routes Valga-Valka and Ikla-Ainazi-Salacgriva will be opened on Tuesday, July 1, according to information published by the Vidzeme Planning Region.

The experimental lines will run for 12 months.

The experimental bus routes are part of a project on cross-border public transport connections between Estonia and Latvia to improve mobility opportunities for people in the border region.

The lines are based on the needs of local communities and their future development will also be influenced by passenger response and public opinion.

On the Valga-Valka route, buses will run three times a day, starting from Valga Train Station via Valka Bus Station.

On the route from Ainazi to Ikla and on to Parnu and vice versa, there will be ten bus services a day, except on Saturday, when there will be nine services. Two of these services will run to Salacgriva. At the same time, two new bus stops have been created in Ainazi.

According to information on the Vidzeme Planning Region website, the total funding for the project "Estonia-Latvia cross-border public transport connection" is EUR 235,000.
