Lembergs' For Latvia and Ventspils party spent EUR 15,000 on campaign ahead of local elections
RIGA, June 19 (LETA) - For Latvia and Ventspils, the regional party led by jailed Ventspils mayor Aivars Lembers, received EUR 15,000 in donations ahead of this year's local elections and spent EUR 14,826 on the campaign, according to the party's declaration of income and expenditure published in the official gazette Latvijas Vestnesis.
The declaration shows that the party received EUR 15 in membership fees and EUR 15,113 as donations.
Of the EUR 14,826 spent on the election campaign, EUR 8,672 were spent on advertising, mostly radio commercials, and EUR 551 were spent on online ads.
The party spent EUR 2,562 on postal services and EUR 3,255 on various campaign materials. Lease of movable and immovable assets necessary for the campaign cost EUR 137 to the Lembergs party.
As reported, For Latvia and Ventspils managed to keep a narrow majority on the city council, according to the election results released by the Central Election Commission. However, Lembergs, who has also been elected to Ventspils City Council, is unable to participate in voting from his prison cell.
