Riga, Feb 24 (LETA) - New Unity will nominate Janis Rozenbergs, the mayor of Cesis municipality, for the post of the education and science minister, Prime Minister Evika Silina (New Unity) revealed in an interview with Latvian Radio.

On Monday morning, she stressed that the nomination of new ministers should be done quickly. She expects that the Saeima could decide on a vote of confidence in the ministers as early as this week.

As reported, Silina has decided to "restart" the work of her government and has demanded the resignation of Transport Minister Kaspars Briskens (Progressives), Education and Science Minister Andas Caksa (New Unity) and Welfare Minister Uldis Augulis (Greens/Farmers).

The incoming ministers need a "fresh look" at the sector to cope with its challenges, the prime minister said.

Silina has called on coalition partners to delegate new ministers.
