RIGA, May 22 (LETA) - Rigas Satiksme municipal public transport company and Pasazieru Vilciens rail passenger carrier are planning to introduce a joint ticket in June, representatives of the rail company informed LETA.

The joint ticket, the price of which is planned at EUR 2, will allow residents to use it both on Riga city public transport and on trains within Riga territory, i.e., within Zone A of the railway routes.

At present, Pasazieru Vilciens and Rigas Satiksme continue to work on all technical solutions, including upgrading the ticketing system, technological and user experience tests. In parallel, other necessary prerequisites are being prepared to ensure a smooth and easy launch of the ticket.

According to Pasazieru Vilciens, passengers will be able to buy the ticket on Pasazieru Vilciens' website vivi.lv and mobile app. In the future, it is planned that the ticket will also be offered by other partners, such as Mobilly, Bezrindas.lv and other electronic ticket platforms.

As LETA reported, in March this year, the Riga City Council approved a one-year pilot project of a joint Rigas Satiksme Pasazieru Vilciens and ticket.

After the pilot project, the joint ticket might be introduced in a broader rail network.
