Ratnieks, Kirsis and Sprindzuks elected Riga Vice Mayors
Riga, July 1 (LETA) - On Tuesday, after several hours of debates, Edvards Ratnieks (National Alliance), Vilnis Kirsis (New Unity) and Maris Sprindzuks (United List) were elected as Riga Vice Mayors.
Ratnieks will be responsible for security, property, housing and environmental issues. Kirsis will be responsible for education, culture, sport and family policy. Sprindzuks will be Vice Mayor for urban development and Metropolitan Riga.
34 councilors voted in favor of Ratnieks, Kirsis and Sprindzuks as vice mayors, while 22 councilors voted against. At today's council meeting, 57 out of 60 deputies were present. 56 voting slips were declared valid.
Until now, Riga Mayor had two vice mayors, but the binding regulations provide that there will be three vice mayors from now on.
