Riga City Council to freeze salaries of elected officials
RIGA, Jan 16 (LETA) - The Financial and Administrative Affairs Committee of the Riga City Council on Thursday approved amendments to a decree on municipal salaries that will put a free on salaries of officials elected to the city council.
The measure will affect the salaries of the Riga mayor, his deputies, chairpersons of the city council's committees and their deputies, as well as the members of the city council.
Under the current provisions on councilors' salaries in 2024, the aforementioned officials' base monthly salaries were the same as in 2023, or EUR 1,137.46.
The amendments provide that the same basic salary will be paid also in 2025.
The final decision on the salary freeze has yet to be taken by the Riga City Council.
