65% of Latvian residents feel stressed by the war in Ukraine - survey
RIGA, April 18 (LETA) - 65.1 percent of Latvian residents feel stress in their daily lives because of the ongoing war in Ukraine, according to a survey commissioned by the State Chancellery on the resilience of Latvian society in the context of Russia's war in Ukraine.
The survey shows that the level of stress due to the ongoing war in Ukraine has remained basically unchanged since 2023. In the 2023 survey, 64.8 percent of respondents were stressed by the war in Ukraine. The level of stress experienced is relatively high against the background of the sample as a whole, the study says.
According to the survey, 39.3 percent of respondents are satisfied with their life in general, 8.3 percent rate their life as bad or very bad, while 25.9 percent rate their life as satisfactory.
Without leaning too much on the positive or negative side, respondents have a rather mediocre view of both their work and their participation in the events taking place in Latvia, the study shows. Last year, 36.3 percent of respondents rated their job as satisfactory, while 34.5 percent in the 2023 survey.
However, 47.4 percent of respondents in 2024 and 43.6 percent in 2023 rated their participation in the events taking place in Latvia as satisfactory.
The survey was conducted in October and November 2024. The survey was carried out among 2,005 Latvian residents aged 18-74. The survey was conducted by Berg Research. The cost of the survey to the state budget was EUR 4,985.
