Situation with Covid-19 outbreak in social care centers is unacceptable - Karins
RIGA, Jan 12 (LETA) - The situation with Covid-19 outbreak in social care centers is unacceptable, said Prime Minister Krisjanis Karins (New Unity).
He said that the government and the Crisis Management Council on Tuesday heard the vision of Welfare Minister Ramona Petravica (KPV LV) on how to tackle the Covid-19 situation in social care centers.
Karins praised the minister's proposal to speed up the testing capacity in social care centers and promised to allocate the necessary funding to ensure that.
As reported, in order to reduce Covid-19 incidence in social care centers, employees will be tested with Covid-19 antibody express tests, Petravica said in a press conference today.
At present, government-funded social care centers take care of 3,833 clients. On Monday, 178 clients in nine out of 25 centers were Covid-19 positive. The number of Covid-19 cases declined from the previous week.
