Average wage in Liepaja grew 13.3% in 2021
RIGA, April 8 (LETA) - The average wage of working people in Latvia's southwestern city Liepaja increased by 13.3 percent last year, LETA was told at the local government's press office.
Last year, the average gross monthly wage in Liepaja was EUR 982, which is an increase of EUR 115 or 13.3 percent against 2020, the city's spokespeople said citing data from the Liepaja Development Board.
Employees' average pay in Liepaja reached 87.1 percent of Latvia's average gross monthly wage, which last year grew by EUR 138 or 14 percent, according to the State Social Insurance Agency's data.
The local government noted that in 2020 the average wage in Liepaja rose by just 4.5 percent against the year before.
In Liepaja's public sector, wages averaged at EUR 1,152, up 11.6 percent against 2020, while in the city's private enterprises employing 100 and more people the average wage grew 11.6 percent year-on-year to EUR 1,389.
