RIGA, Dec 8 (LETA) - The total length of Latvia's regional state roads in poor condition will have decreased to around 27 percent by the end of this year, Martins Lazdovskis, board chairman of Latvijas Valsts Celi (LVC, Latvian State Roads), the company managing state roads in Latvia, told a meeting of the State Road Council on Wednesday.

The LVC head informed that this year the state has financed renovation of 850 kilometers of regional state roads and that 410 kilometers of these roads have been repaired for money from the state budget program Funds for Unforeseen Events, which has been invested in roads to promote economic activity during the Covid-19 crisis. Meanwhile, 185 kilometers of roads have been renovated for funds meant for the implementation of the administrative territorial reform (ATR).

As LETA was told at LVC, 51.7 percent of Latvia's regional state roads will be in good condition by the end of 2021. 

In the 2021 construction season, construction works were performed on 206 road sections and the works were completed on 162 sections. Construction works on the remaining sections will continue next year. All in all, construction works took place along 1,330 kilometers of state roads this year.
