Institutions in cooperation with local governments work on admission of about 500 Ukrainian war refugees from Moldova
RIGA, March 15 (LETA) - The responsible institutions in cooperation with local governments now are looking for a solution to admit 500 Ukrainian war refugees currently located in Moldova, LETA learned from Interior Ministry's state secretary Dimitrijs Trofimovs.
As Moldova is bordering with Ukraine, thousands of refugees have flew to this country from Ukraine. Latvia recently received a request from Moldova to admit 500 refugees, said Trofimovs.
A practical agreement is necessary between the State Fire and Rescue Service (VUGD) and municipal civil defense commissions on which municipalities are ready to accommodate the war refugees.
As reported, Lithuania announced that it will take over up to 2,000 Ukrainian war refugees from Moldova.
Also, Latvia has estimated that it is ready to accommodate up to 10,000 Ukrainian refugees for a period of three months.
