Number of local lawmakers at Limbazi, Saulkrasti local councils not to change
RIGA, March 29 (LETA) - After the Constitutional Court ruling, the number of local lawmakers in Limbazi and Saulkrasti local councils will not change, LETA learned from the Central Election Commission's representative Laura Zaharova.
The Constitutional Court in March ruled that merging Skulte county with Saulkrasti region was unconstitutional. The Saeima then decided to include Skulte county back in the Limbazi region.
Thus, the number of population in Limbazi county has increased to 29,955, while the number of population in Saulkrasti county has dropped to 10,007. In accordance with the law, counties with up to 30,000 residents elect 15 lawmakers to their local governments.
The upcoming local elections will take place in June.
