Latvia's first regional public coworking space to open in Cesis Thursday

RIGA, Dec 4 (LETA) - On Thursday, December 5, the first regional public coworking space will open in a building owned by the Finance Ministry at 2 Krisjana Valdemara Street in Cesis, representatives of Valsts Nekustami Ipasumi (State Real Estate) informed LETA.

The coworking space will offer workstations for employees from several public institutions, providing them an opportunity for effective cooperation and working in one place, said VNI representatives.

The opening ceremony will be attended by VNI board member Andris Varna, the State Chancellery's Director Raivis Kronbergs, Cesis Region Council Chairman Janis Rozenbergs (New Unity), and the first user of the coworking office - the State Land Service, represented by Director General Vita Narnicka.

The coworking space will be located on the first floor of the three-story building.

The establishment of such regional coworking spaces will help public administration recruit the best specialists from all over Latvia and to reduce the amount of office space rented by public institutions and the amount of rented space per employee.

VNI's long-term goal is smart and efficient working environment for public administration, which envisages switching from individual office buildings for each institution to shared office buildings. Experience of Latvia and other European countries shows that large part of public administration employees do not need to be permanently located in the office to do their job, and there is a growing need for working environment that enables quick and efficient resolution of issues in different fields and promotes cooperation.

VNI is engaged in real estate management and development. The company's shares are wholly owned by the state and held by the Finance Ministry. The share capital of VNI is EUR 155,902,594.
