Vidzeme University returns to contact studies after reaching high Covid-19 vaccination level
RIGA, Dec 14 (LETA) - Vidzeme University of Applied Sciences (ViA) has returned to contact learning after it has reached high Covid-19 vaccination level among its students and lecturers, LETA learned from ViA representative Marta Denisova.
As many as 94 percent of students have been vaccinated against Covid-19, and only two of the employees do not have a valid Covid-19 certificate. The university applied strategic communication approach to achieve this. ViA rector Gatis Krumins informed that in July less than half of students and employees had been vaccinated.
He said that the university used a different approach than the country in general in its vaccination campaign. It is important to understand the target audience and its interests. "We understood that we want contact studies and addresses students from this angle. Health and solidarity were mentioned as well, but the main approach was based on their interests," he said.
The second important aspect was who addresses students - student board took an active part in it. And the third aspect was a smart motivation system - students who started the vaccination process were refunded for all Covid-19 tests made until the vaccination was completed.
