35 Covid-19 patients currently treated at Vidzeme hospital
RIGA, Dec 11 (LETA) - On Friday, Vidzeme hospital was treating 35 Covid-19 patients, two of them in a severe condition, said Vidzeme Hospital spokeswoman Benita Brila.
Two patients on Thursday were hospitalized to Vidzeme hospital, and two patients were discharged.
Brila said that another employee has returned to work after recovering from the virus.
Vidzeme hospital is able to admit all Covid-19 patients as it has allocated 50 beds for these patients, and in case of a steeper rise, the number number of beds can be increased to 70.
"We are providing emergency medical services as usual, availability of scheduled services has somewhat reduced. Out-patient services are available as usual," said Brila.
The National Health Service's data shows that 87 Covid-19 patients have been admitted to hospital in the past 24 hours, including nine patients who have been transferred. Of the 743 Covid-19 patients currently receiving treatment in hospital, 703 have symptoms of medium severity and 40 are suffering severe symptoms.
Meanwhile, 73 Covid-19 patients have been discharged from hospitals in the past 24 hours, including the nine transferred patients. The total number of coronavirus patients discharged from hospitals has reached 1,936.
