KNAB has so far initiated 74 administrative offence proceedings related to last municipal elections
Riga, July 7 (LETA) - The Corruption Prevention Bureau (KNAB) has initiated 74 administrative offence proceedings in connection with the last municipal elections, LETA has learned.
Among them, 55 related to non-compliance with the procedure and restrictions set out in the law on pre-election campaigning, 17 related to the use of administrative resources for pre-election campaigning, and two for failure to submit pre-election campaign statements.
In some cases, the KNAB has already adopted decisions, but the authority refrains from commenting on the details of the decisions at this stage.
KNAB reminded that the authority has launched more than 600 inspections on alleged violations of the law on pre-election campaigning.
Some of them are still in progress and the evaluation of the information obtained is ongoing. Individual cases will have to be examined in close conjunction with the information provided in the election declarations of political organizations, the office pointed out. Political organizations have until Monday to submit these declarations to the KNAB.
The KNAB will provide more information on the results of the inspections once all the processes for assessing the inspections have been completed and all the declarations received have been examined.
The local elections took place on June 7.
