RIGA, June 11 (LETA) - A group of nine councilors elected to Preili Region Council have agreed to form a coalition on the regional council, leaving the council's former chairperson Marta Plivda (Latgale Party, New Unity) outside the new coalition, Arijs Vucans (Association Residents, Latvian Association of Regions, New Conservative Party), a candidate for chairman of Preili Region Council, informed LETA. 

Nine out of the council's 15 members have pledged support for Vucans as the new leader of Preili Region. Peteris Rozinskis (National Alliance), the former leader of the Riebini municipality, and Anita Brakovska (Latvian Social Democratic Workers' Party), the former leader of the Varkava municipality, would be elected deputy chairpersons of Preili Region Council. 

The new coalition in Preili Region now includes the joint ticket of Association Residents, the Latvian Association of Regions and the New Conservative Party, the National Alliance, the (Latvian Social Democratic Workers' Party and the Union of Greens and Farmers.
