RIGA, Oct 17 (LETA) - Maris Kleinbergs, former board chairman of Latvijas Dzelzcels, will now join the current supervisory board of Rigas Udens municipal water utility, the company said in its statement to Nasdaq Riga stock exchange.

Rigas Udens supervisory board which consists also of Dace Ljusa and Imants Paeglitis.

The new supervisory board member was selected through a public application procedure. Applications were received from 13 candidates. The nomination committee evaluated the candidates in three rounds, with the involvement of an external recruitment consultant.

As a result of the selection process, the candidate who achieved the highest total score across all three evaluation rounds and best met the established requirements was nominated for election.

Currently, Kleinbergs serves as Head of the Mineral Materials Production and Sales Department at the state-owned joint-stock company Latvijas Autocelu Uzturetajs (Latvian Road Maintenance). Previously, he held the position of Chairman of the Supervisory Board of Rigas Udens (from September 8, 2020, to February 25, 2023), Chairman of the Board of the state-owned joint-stock company Latvijas Dzelzcels (Latvian Railways), and Chairman of the Board of Schenker company.

Kleinbergs holds a professional Master’s degree in Engineering with a specialization in Mechanical Engineering from Riga Technical University.

In 2024, Riga Udens audited turnover was EUR 76.336 million, down 0.1 percent on 2023, but due to the revaluation of assets, the company sustained a loss of EUR 18.275 million, compared to a profit of EUR 18.275 million in 2023.

Rigas Udens provides urban water supply services in Riga and several areas of the Pieriga Region - Adazi, Ropazi, Marupe and Kekava, as well as wastewater collection and treatment services. The company is wholly owned by the Riga Municipality.
