90% of employees at Liepaja municipal institutions have been vaccinated against Covid-19

RIGA, Oct 20 (LETA) - 4,333 employees or 90 percent of all employees at Liepaja City Council and the city's municipal institutions had received at least one Covid-19 vaccine by October 15, as Liepaja City Council's public relations officer Zita Lazdane told LETA.

4,008 or approximately 82 percent of employees at Liepaja municipal institutions have completed the vaccination process, while 325 or 7 percent have received one vaccine for Covid-19, and 10 percent were not vaccinated as of October 15.

At Liepaja Region Tourism Information Bureau, Liepaja Latvian Society House, Jaunliepaja Primary Healthcare Center, Culture Administration, and Real Estate Management Administration, 100 percent of employees have received at least one vaccine. Vaccination rates for other Liepaja municipal institutions are also high, in total, approximately 90 percent of all employees at Liepaja municipal institutions have been vaccinated against Covid-19, said Lazdane.

About 90 percent of employees at Liepaja educational institutions have also been vaccinated against Covid-19: more than 90 percent of employees at schools and 92 percent at preschools.

In the meantime, 49 percent of residents of Liepaja or 33,482 people have been vaccinated for Covid-19, said Lazdane.

As reported, Covid-19 vaccination activity this week is similar to last week, when there was a rise in vaccination pace after the government took a decision that vaccination will be mandatory for many employees, according to the National Health Service data.

During the first two days of this week, on average 10,400 people a day were vaccinated. This data can still change as many vaccination institutions report their vaccination data with some delay.
